Foxconn has commenced operations at its new $2.8 billion (₹25,000 crore) manufacturing facility in Devanahalli, near Bengaluru, marking a significant expansion of its India footprint. The plant has begun small-scale production of iPhone 17 devices, adding to existing output from Foxconn’s Chennai unit.
This facility is now Foxconn’s second-largest globally outside of China, reinforcing India’s growing role in Apple’s global supply chain. The project experienced a brief disruption due to the sudden departure of several Chinese engineers, which was swiftly addressed by deploying experts from Taiwan and other regions.
Apple, through its manufacturing partners, is aggressively scaling up operations in India. The company aims to ramp up iPhone production to 60 million units in 2025, up from an estimated 35–40 million units in 2024–25. In 2024, Apple assembled 60% more iPhones in India than the previous year, with output valued at $22 billion.
Domestically, Apple continues to gain momentum. iPhone shipments in India grew by 21.5% in H1 2025, led by strong demand for the iPhone 16.
