Hyderabad's Big Leap: A New Ring Road's Grand Plan

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has released a preliminary notification for the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR), which will span a 100-metre-wide corridor across multiple districts.

The notification includes detailed survey numbers of affected lands across various mandals and villages, inviting public objections or suggestions until September 15, 2025. A digital roadmap with Google coordinates has also been provided to enhance clarity and transparency.

Designed to extend Hyderabad’s metropolitan boundaries and support planned urban expansion, the RRR will facilitate streamlined infrastructure development, improved layout planning, and regulatory transparency in land acquisition and construction approvals.

With this project, HMDA’s jurisdiction has expanded significantly—from 7,257 sq. km to 10,472.723 sq. km, now covering 11 districts, 104 mandals, and 1,355 villages. The 354-km RRR will impact several settlements, although officials clarified that lands across eight outer districts (33 mandals and 163 villages) will remain unaffected.
