Mega Boost for Goa: Zuari Bridge Towers & Highway Expansion Kick Off

Construction of two observatory towers atop the new Zuari Bridge in Goa is set to begin shortly, with the foundation stone scheduled to be laid on 23 May 2025. The ₹270 crore project, undertaken by Dilip Buildcon—the same firm responsible for constructing the iconic cable-stayed bridge—will transform the twin pylons on the North and South Goa sides into striking viewing towers aimed at boosting tourism.

Designed to stand alongside international landmarks like the Eiffel Tower in terms of appeal, the towers will serve as major tourist attractions. Upon completion, they will be operated by the contractor for 50 years, with an entry fee system in place to recoup construction costs. Plans for cafés and other commercial amenities within the towers are under review. Construction is expected to commence after the monsoon season.

Additionally, on the same day, the foundation stone will be laid for the ₹1,060.2 crore four-laning project of the Bhoma to Old Goa stretch on National Highway 748. The 7-km project has already opened for bidding, with the contract expected to be awarded by September 2025.
