On August 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 184 newly constructed Type-VII multi-storey flats for Members of Parliament at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi.
The flats are spread across four towers — Krishna, Godavari, Kosi, and Hooghly — with each unit offering approximately 5,000 sq. ft. of carpet area to accommodate both residential and official needs. The complex also features dedicated office spaces, staff quarters, and a community centre. Built using advanced monolithic concrete and aluminium formwork technology, the structures are earthquake-resistant and fully accessible for persons with disabilities.
Highlighting the initiative, PM Modi noted that over 350 MP residences have been built since 2014 to address the long-standing shortage of official accommodation. He pointed out that earlier, high rental expenditures by Ministries cost the exchequer nearly ₹1,500 crore annually. The new flats, he said, would help MPs focus on their responsibilities without housing concerns.
The project represents a significant upgrade to the parliamentary housing infrastructure, offering modern, durable, and inclusive living spaces tailored to the needs of lawmakers.
