SAP's 'Beating Heart of Co-innovation' Opens in Bengaluru

SAP has inaugurated its 41-acre India Innovation Park in Devanahalli, Bengaluru—now its second-largest R&D hub globally, after Germany.

Developed in phases, 27 acres are currently operational, accommodating 3,200 employees. An additional 4,500 will join during the first phase. Upon full completion, the campus will host up to 14,000 staff. Construction of Phase Two is set to begin shortly, with completion targeted between Q2 and Q3 of 2028. The total project investment exceeds €194 million (approximately ₹1,730 crore).

This marks SAP’s second campus in Bengaluru, complementing its existing facility in Whitefield. Sindhu Gangadharan, Managing Director of SAP Labs India, described the park as “the beating heart of co-innovation,” bringing together customers, partners, academia, startups, and communities.

SAP joins the ranks of global tech giants like Google and Microsoft in expanding R&D operations in India, signaling a shift from traditional outsourcing to high-value innovation hubs. With over 17,000 employees in India—constituting 40% of its global R&D workforce—SAP’s new campus reinforces its AI- and cloud-led innovation agenda.
