The Aqua Line Advantage: New Pedestrian Subways Coming

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL) is planning to build two pedestrian subways to provide seamless connectivity between the Aqua Line (Metro 3) and key destinations across the city.

One subway will link the Worli Science Centre station to the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, the Worli promenade, and the Nehru Planetarium. The second will connect the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) station to the upcoming Bullet Train terminal. Together, the subways will span more than three kilometres, with the Worli Science Centre stretch covering 1.6 km and the BKC stretch 1.4 km.

MMRCL plans to appoint an agency to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and manage the construction process. The new subways will significantly enhance pedestrian connectivity to several emerging infrastructure developments, including a proposed commercial centre and public garden at the former Worli Dairy site. Project cost estimates are yet to be finalised.
