The Crown Jewel: Rolls-Royce Set to Deepen Roots in India

Rolls-Royce is exploring plans to make India its third “home market” outside the UK, signalling its intent to make significant investments in the country.

The company is focusing on the development of next-generation aero engines for India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme, a critical initiative to power the Indian Air Force’s future combat fleet. Sashi Mukundan, Executive Vice-President of Rolls-Royce India, said that extensive discussions are underway regarding a potential partnership. Currently, Rolls-Royce considers the UK, the US and Germany as its primary home markets, where it operates major manufacturing facilities.

Rolls-Royce aims to establish a complete aero-engine value chain in India, creating opportunities across jet engines, naval propulsion and advanced engineering. Emphasising the company’s long-term commitment, Mukundan stated that Rolls-Royce is ready to partner with India in developing next-generation engine technologies to support the country’s aerospace and defence ambitions.
