Japanese apparel giant Uniqlo is set to make its Bengaluru debut with the launch of its first retail outlet at Orion Mall, Brigade Gateway—marking a key milestone in the brand’s expansion into Southern India.
Spanning a 30,000 sq. ft. carpet area, the new store represents a significant investment, estimated at over Rs 8,000 per sq. ft. With a projected loading factor of 35–40%, the total built-up area will be notably larger. The retail space was previously occupied by Spanish fashion brand Zara, offering Uniqlo a prime opportunity to establish a strong presence in one of Bengaluru’s most popular malls.
Uniqlo has long shown interest in South India, especially Bengaluru, where it already serves customers via its e-commerce platform. Since entering the Indian market in October 2019, the brand has opened 13 stores across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Lucknow, and Chandigarh.
The Bengaluru store is slated to open by June, following completion of interior fit-outs and setup. Depending on its performance, Uniqlo may explore further expansion within the city.
