VELS Group Goes Big: The New Hub for Global Events

The VELS Group of Institutions and Companies has inaugurated the VELS Trade & Convention Centre at Chembarambakkam, Chennai.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Thiru Thangam Thennarasu and Dr. Kamal Haasan, and was presided over by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, Founder-Chancellor of VELS University. The state-of-the-art centre comprises four large convention halls with a total built-up area of approximately 3.5 lakh sq. ft. and a capacity to host up to 20,000 guests simultaneously.

Designed to cater to a wide range of events such as trade fairs, corporate conferences, exhibitions, and weddings, the facility is equipped with modern infrastructure, including parking for up to 6,000 vehicles, luxury guest houses, a dedicated open-air event space, and fully equipped indoor shooting studios.

The convention centre is complemented by VELS Film City, an integrated film production complex featuring outdoor shooting locations and VELS Theatres, a six-screen multiplex. Highlighting the significance of the project, Dr. Ganesh stated, “This centre represents a major milestone in positioning Chennai as a premier hub for global events and entertainment.”
