Vitthal’s Vision: A ₹4,150 Crore Spiritual Makeover for Pandharpur

A high-powered committee chaired by Devendra Fadnavis has approved the ₹4,150.46 crore Pandharpur temple corridor development project in Pandharpur, Solapur district.

The project aims to modernise and expand infrastructure at the major pilgrimage centre, which draws millions of devotees during the Ashadhi, Kartiki, Chaitri, and Maghi yatras. It will be developed along the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and Mahakal Lok, with a focus on creating a world-class spiritual and civic infrastructure ecosystem. Officials noted that the design has been planned to meet the town’s needs for the next 50 years, ensuring long-term sustainability and capacity to handle increasing pilgrim footfall.

The Chief Minister has directed that work commence immediately and be completed within 30 months. The plan includes upgraded roads, improved transport systems, and enhanced pilgrim amenities to provide a cleaner, safer, and more organised experience.

Once completed, the corridor is expected to significantly improve crowd management, accessibility, and overall urban infrastructure in Pandharpur, while preserving its cultural and religious importance as a key pilgrimage destination dedicated to Shri Vitthal-Rukmini.
