The Telangana government has approved Rs 583 crore for the construction of the long-pending Lakshmidevipalli irrigation project, marking a significant step toward improving irrigation infrastructure in the drought-prone Palamuru region.
Vakiti Srihari stated that the sanction was cleared by the State Cabinet under the leadership of A. Revanth Reddy. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Shadnagar MLA camp office.
According to the Minister, the project is expected to provide major relief to farmers in the Mahabubnagar and Rangareddy districts, where groundwater depletion and frequent borewell failures continue to affect agricultural productivity. He added that review meetings would soon be conducted at the district Collectorates to expedite project implementation, including land acquisition and the completion of pending works.
Veerlapalli Shankar described the Lakshmidevipalli irrigation project as a long-standing demand of the people of the Shadnagar constituency, noting that local farmers had waited for decades for the project’s execution and completion.
