Oil India Limited (OIL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), both Maharatna PSUs, have signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) to develop a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Arunachal Pradesh.
The agreement was formalized at BPCL’s Corporate Office in the presence of Dr. Ranjit Rath, Chairman & Managing Director of OIL, and Sanjay Khanna, Director (Refineries) and CMD (Additional Charge) of BPCL. The new joint venture company (JVC) will focus on building infrastructure for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations and providing Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections to households, commercial establishments, and industries.
Awarded under the 12th CGD Bid Round by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the initiative aims to expand clean energy access and advance India’s gas-based economy vision. Dr. Rath noted that the project builds on OIL’s longstanding presence in Arunachal Pradesh, supported by the recently commissioned Kumchai–Kusijan gas pipeline, and will play a vital role in promoting socio-economic development and sustainable energy use in the region.
