Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is set to supply 2.88 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of G-11 grade coal from its Naini coal block in Odisha to Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation (Tamil Nadu Genco), ensuring steady fuel supply for the state's energy needs.
The Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA) is expected to be finalised within the next 10 days, following recent discussions between SCCL Chairman & MD N. Balram and Tamil Nadu Genco MD M. Govind Rao. The coal will be utilised by Tamil Nadu Genco’s 1,200 MW Udangudi thermal power plant located in Thoothukudi district.
With production at the Naini block already underway, coal will be transported using an integrated logistics network via rail and inland waterways, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
This arrangement builds on SCCL’s existing partnership with Tamil Nadu Genco, which currently includes the annual supply of 1.75 MTPA to the North Chennai thermal power plant. The new supply deal further cements SCCL’s role as a critical contributor to Tamil Nadu’s power generation infrastructure.
