Hitachi Energy India, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), and Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Ltd (RPPTL) have signed a novation agreement for the major Rajasthan HVDC project.
The original contract, awarded in April 2025 to the Hitachi–BHEL consortium, covers the design and delivery of HVDC terminals for transmitting renewable energy from Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh. Under the novation agreement, all rights and obligations of RPPTL have been transferred to AESL Projects (APL) of the Adani Group, formerly known as Adani Energy Solutions Step-Ten. The project includes a 6,000 MW, 950 km HVDC link, designed to supply power to approximately 60 million households.
All other terms and conditions of the contract remain unchanged, with APL fully assuming RPPTL’s duties, liabilities, and responsibilities.
