THDC India Ltd. has announced plans to develop a 1,400 MW pumped storage project (PSP) in Chhattisgarh, further strengthening its role in India's renewable energy sector.
The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chhattisgarh government in Raipur, in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain.
Located in Dangari, the project aims to create employment opportunities and drive socio-economic growth. By storing surplus power during off-peak hours and supplying electricity during peak demand, it will enhance energy efficiency. THDC India Chairman and Managing Director R.K. Vishnoi emphasized that PSPs are vital for balancing renewable energy generation, ensuring grid stability, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Headquartered in Rishikesh, THDC India Ltd. currently has an installed capacity of 2,247 MW across thermal and renewable projects in multiple states. It operates as a joint venture between NTPC and the Uttar Pradesh government.
