CleanMax and Osaka Gas have launched a joint venture (JV), Clean Max Osaka Gas Renewable Energy (CORE), to develop and operate 400 MW of renewable energy capacity in India.
Approximately 300 MW of this capacity is expected to be operational within six months, with the remaining 100 MW to be completed in two years. The initial investment for the 300 MW is estimated at ₹1,500 crore. The JV is backed by a consortium that includes Osaka Gas’ subsidiary, Osaka Gas Singapore (OGS), and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
CleanMax Managing Director Kuldeep Jain stated, "After 18 months of discussions, CleanMax, Osaka Gas, and JBIC have signed a JV that will own and operate approximately 400 MW of wind and solar assets, supplying power to corporate consumers."
CleanMax will hold a majority stake in the JV, marking Osaka Gas' first renewable energy investment in India. This partnership underscores Osaka Gas’ commitment to advancing India’s clean energy transition and providing corporate and industrial customers with long-term renewable power purchase agreements (PPAs).
By offering scalable and reliable renewable energy solutions, the initiative will support businesses in achieving their decarbonization targets while contributing to India’s broader clean energy goals.
