NHPC has signed an implementation agreement with Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDCL) for the development of two major hydroelectric projects in Jammu & Kashmir.
Finalised on 27 March 2026 in Jammu, the agreement covers the 240 MW Uri-I Stage-II and 260 MW Dulhasti Stage-II hydropower projects. Both projects will be executed by NHPC on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis for a concession period of 40 years.
With a combined capacity of 500 MW, the projects are expected to strengthen regional energy infrastructure, improve power reliability, and contribute to clean and sustainable electricity generation, in line with India’s renewable energy goals.
Earlier, in February 2026, NHPC had approved an investment of ₹5,702 crore for these projects, subject to statutory clearances and finalisation of the agreement. The signing marks a key milestone in advancing strategically important hydropower developments in the region.
