Powering Up: PGCIL Energizes Massive 765 kV Bhadla-Sikar Line

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has successfully charged the 765 kV double-circuit Bhadla II–Sikar II transmission line, marking a key milestone in strengthening the country’s power transmission infrastructure.

The new line will play a vital role in enhancing the evacuation of renewable energy from Rajasthan, one of India’s major solar power hubs. Its commissioning is expected to facilitate the efficient transmission of large volumes of renewable energy to key load centres, supporting grid stability, long-term energy security and India’s clean energy transition.

The commissioning event was attended by G. Ravisankar, Director (Finance), along with Abhinav Verma, Chief General Manager and Head of Rajasthan Projects, and other senior officials of PGCIL.

A company representative said the transmission line is a critical step towards integrating Rajasthan’s renewable energy capacity into the national grid, reinforcing energy security and supporting sustainable growth.
