SECI Invites Bids for 50MW/100MWh Standalone Energy Storage Systems

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids for the selection of energy storage system developers (ESSDs) to provide a 100 MWh standalone energy storage system (ESS) on a short-term basis.

The proposed system will feature a capacity of 50 MW for two hours and will be utilised on an “on-demand” basis under a tariff-based competitive bidding process. ESS technologies have emerged as an effective solution for supporting power-system operations because of their fast response capability, flexibility, and ability to provide services when required. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the availability of flexible energy storage capacity for short-duration requirements, marking an important step toward the expanded deployment of standalone grid-scale energy storage infrastructure.

Under the terms of the tender, the selected developer will enter into an Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (ESPA) with SECI for a one-year period from November 1, 2026, to October 31, 2027. Participation is restricted to operational energy storage projects that are already commissioned, interconnected with the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS), and have declared their Commercial Operation Date (COD) on or before the submission deadline.

The last date for online bid submission is 30 September, 2026.
