CM Revanth Reddy Proposes 12-Lane Highway to Machilipatnam Port

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged the Union government to approve the construction of a 12-lane greenfield highway connecting the upcoming Bharat Future City near Hyderabad to the Machilipatnam port in Andhra Pradesh via Amaravati.

Emphasizing Telangana’s landlocked status, CM Reddy highlighted the strategic importance of the 330-km corridor—including 118 km within Telangana—in enabling direct seaborne trade access for the state’s industries.

In response, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, assured that Rs 858 crore would be sanctioned under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) within a week. He also confirmed that a MoRTH team will soon visit Telangana to assess connectivity options on the ground.

Additionally, a high-level review meeting involving senior officials from MoRTH and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is scheduled for September 22 in Hyderabad to discuss project modalities.
