Delhi-Rohtak Road Revamp: NHAI Takes Charge for World-Class Upgrade

In a major step toward improving Delhi’s road network, the Public Works Department (PWD) has approved the transfer of a 13.2 km stretch of Delhi-Rohtak Road (NH-10) from Peeragarhi Chowk to Tikri Border to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Endorsed by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, this move will facilitate the corridor’s transformation into a world-class highway. PWD Minister Parvesh Verma stated that the upgrade will enhance traffic flow, road conditions, and connectivity for thousands of commuters between Delhi and Haryana.

The Tikri Border–Nangloi Metro Station section, a crucial link to the Ring Road, faces frequent congestion and waterlogging, damaging the road and causing delays. The proposed upgrade includes an advanced drainage system, benefiting nearby areas like Nangloi, Mundka, Ghevra, and Tikri.

A prior state study found that existing drains vary between 1 to 1.5 meters in width, while the new system will expand to 3 meters, improving water flow and road durability.

Verma reaffirmed the government's commitment to infrastructure development, stating, “With the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and approval from Gadkariji, I have forwarded the proposal to NHAI for this essential upgrade. Our double-engine government is dedicated to ensuring smoother traffic, better connectivity, and world-class infrastructure.”
