The Maharashtra Cabinet’s infrastructure committee, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved several major infrastructure projects, including the development of a six-lane elevated highway and a four-lane at-grade road along the Pune–Shirur section of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar national highway.
The 53.4-km stretch will comprise a four-lane road supported by a six-lane elevated expressway. Additionally, two six-lane highway projects in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district have been cleared: a 32.8-km corridor from Shendra Industrial Estate to Bidkin Industrial Estate, and a 26-km road from Bidkin to Dhoregaon.
The committee also granted in-principle approval for a new greenfield road linking the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalna DMIC Node with the Samruddhi Expressway. CM Fadnavis stressed the immediate need for repairs on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Ahilyanagar road and directed officials to fast-track land acquisition for upcoming projects. The Pune–Shirur highway is slated for completion within three years, addressing rising traffic driven by nearby industrial hubs.
