UltraTech’s Solar Surge: New 14 MW Deal with Sunsure Solarpark

UltraTech Cement, a part of the Aditya Birla Group, has signed agreements to procure solar power from a 14 MW project being developed by Sunsure Solarpark Thirty Eight in Dhule, Maharashtra.

The project will also include a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enabling better energy management and reliability. Through this partnership, UltraTech aims to meet its renewable energy requirements, optimise power costs, and comply with regulations governing captive power consumption. As part of the arrangement, the company will invest up to ₹67.2 million to acquire a 26.2 percent stake in Sunsure Solarpark Thirty Eight, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) established for the project.

UltraTech Cement is advancing its RE100 commitment, which targets 100 percent renewable energy usage by 2050. Currently, 27.8 percent of the company’s energy mix comes from renewable sources, and it aims to increase this share to 85 percent by 2030.

The initiative reflects UltraTech’s broader strategy to transition toward cleaner energy, supporting the cement industry’s efforts to reduce energy costs and meet evolving sustainability and environmental mandates.
