Karnataka's Solar Surge: 100MW Boost to Thermal Plants

Karnataka Power Corporation (KPCL) is set to develop ground-mounted solar power projects at Ballari, Yermarus, and Raichur thermal power stations as part of the Energy Department’s renewable energy expansion plan. With a combined capacity of 100.1 MW and an estimated cost of ₹411.4 crore, these projects will be executed under the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) model by a private firm for three years.

Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC), a PSU under NTPC, is overseeing the initiative. KPCL aims to enhance energy efficiency by integrating solar power with thermal generation.

Additionally, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd. (KREDL) has invited tenders for a 300 KW green hydrogen plant with a solar installation at BTPS. This pilot project will support KPCL’s sustainable energy initiatives.
