Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd (GIPCL) has commissioned the final 135 MW phase of its solar power project at Khavda in Gujarat, taking the project’s total installed capacity to 600 MW.
This solar project forms part of the larger 2,375 MW Khavda Renewable Energy Park, one of the state’s flagship clean energy developments. GIPCL, a joint venture promoted by Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals (GSFC), Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL), and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), continues to play a significant role in expanding Gujarat’s renewable energy capacity.
In January 2024, GIPCL signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Gujarat for the development of 2,375 MW of renewable energy capacity at Khavda, along with 1,100 MW of solar projects in Gandhinagar. The company has also been allotted approximately 4,750 hectares of land for the development of a hybrid renewable energy park incorporating solar, wind, and hybrid power solutions.
GIPCL’s initiatives are central to supporting Gujarat’s renewable energy targets and advancing the state’s transition toward a sustainable energy future.
