Swaraj Tractors, a division of the Mahindra Group, has joined forces with Mahindra Susten to launch a 26 MW solar energy project in Bathinda, Punjab. This collaboration aims to power four Swaraj Tractor manufacturing facilities in Mohali and Dera Bassi with clean energy, increasing the company’s renewable energy share to 50%.
The solar project is expected to generate 60 million kWh annually, reducing carbon emissions by 54,600 tonnes. This initiative marks Mahindra’s largest solar endeavor in India's tractor manufacturing sector.
Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment Sector at Mahindra & Mahindra, expressed, “This pioneering solar project is a significant step toward integrating green energy at an unprecedented scale in tractor manufacturing for the first time in India.”
