The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is planning a major water infrastructure project near Surat International Airport to improve fresh water supply in coastal areas such as Dumas, Sultanabad, Bhimpore, and surrounding localities.
With an estimated investment of Rs 77 crore, the project will include a 120-lakh-litre underground water storage tank, a booster pumping station, toilet facilities, and security cabins. Additionally, five overhead water tanks will be constructed, along with an extensive pipeline network to enhance water distribution efficiency. The proposal has been submitted to senior officials of the Corporation for approval.
This initiative is part of SMC’s broader strategy to modernise urban infrastructure and promote sustainable water management in response to increasing residential and commercial development around the airport. The project will also complement other city development initiatives, including the Dumas Sea Face project, by ensuring reliable and adequate water services to support urban growth.
