In a landmark move, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has inked an MoU with the Maharashtra government to set up a new manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, with a massive ₹20,000 crore investment. This strategic investment aims to elevate TKM's production capabilities over several years.

This greenfield plant is set to create thousands of jobs, driving significant economic growth in the region. Enhanced production and logistical capabilities will enable Toyota to better serve domestic and international markets, reinforcing its commitment to the Make-in-India initiative.

Masakazu Yoshimura, TKM’s Managing Director and CEO, emphasized India's crucial role in Toyota’s global strategy. He noted that this investment aligns with Toyota's vision of India as a hub for cleaner, greener mobility solutions, bolstered by recent regional restructuring to include India in the new ‘India, Middle East, East Asia & Oceania Region.’

This announcement follows Toyota’s recent ₹3,300 crore investment in Karnataka, aimed at boosting production by 100,000 units annually and creating over 2,000 jobs. Toyota’s sustained investments highlight its dedication to local manufacturing and global market integration.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde lauded the project, projecting it will produce four lakh electric and hybrid cars annually and generate 16,000 jobs. He emphasized that this initiative will revolutionize the automotive sector, spurring significant industry advancements.
