THDC India Issues ₹1,588.75 Cr Tender for Kalai II Hydel Project

THDC India has invited bids for key civil and hydro-mechanical works under the Kalai II Hydel Project, including the construction of upstream and downstream Stage-I coffer dams, diversion tunnels and a road tunnel.

The scope of work covers five circular diversion tunnels for the 1,200 MW hydropower project in Arunachal Pradesh, designed to safely manage river flows during the construction phase. The contract also includes the construction of upstream and downstream coffer dams with heights of 32.7 metres and 21 metres respectively, along with plastic concrete diaphragm cutoff walls and temporary dykes.

In addition, the package предусматриes hydro-mechanical works such as the installation of 10 vertical lift fixed-wheel gates for the diversion tunnels. A road tunnel with an 8-metre diameter and a length of 1,837 metres will be built on the right bank in a D-shaped profile.

The estimated value of the contract is ₹1,588.75 crore, with a completion period of 31.5 months. The works are critical for ensuring safe water diversion during construction and supporting efficient power generation from the project.

The last date for bid submission is January 27, 2026.
