DRA-DMRC JV, a collaborative effort between Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the Thane Depot construction within the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project.
The scope of work encompasses the design, civil and building works, inspection sheds, and the installation, testing, and commissioning of the Depot, along with other related tasks in Maharashtra for MAHSR. In December 2022, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) issued a tender with a projected construction timeline of 5.5 years for Thane Depot, falling under Package D-1 of the 508.17 km bullet train initiative.
The Corporation envisions the development of this Depot for the stable maintenance of Shinkansen train-sets on a sprawling 58-hectare land parcel near Bharodi and Anjur villages in Maharashtra.
Anticipated to be the project's second-largest train depot after the Sabarmati Depot, currently under construction just north of Ahmedabad city, the initial configuration of the depot for light maintenance work will include four inspection lines (expandable to eight in the future), 10 stabling lines (expandable to 31 in the future), an inspection bay, and a washing plant.
