NHAI Invites Bids for Renewal of Madurai-Tuticorin NH-38 Section

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced an invitation for bids for the periodical renewal of a key section of the Madurai-Tuticorin National Highway (NH-38) in Tamil Nadu. The renewal project will cover the stretch from km 138/800 to km 266/865, spanning 128.065 km. This vital infrastructure upgrade is expected to enhance connectivity between the two cities and improve road safety.

The project, estimated to cost ₹207.72 crore, will be executed on an item rate basis, with a completion timeline of 18 months. Additionally, the contractor will be responsible for a five-year defect liability period (DLP), ensuring the long-term durability of the work.

This renewal work is part of NHAI's broader strategy to maintain and upgrade national highways across India, ensuring they meet modern standards and can handle increasing traffic volumes. The project is particularly significant for the NH-38, a crucial route that facilitates trade and transportation in southern Tamil Nadu.

The deadline for submitting bids is September 2, 2024, and the selected contractor will be expected to commence work promptly to meet the project's stringent timeline.

This initiative underscores NHAI's commitment to enhancing India’s road infrastructure, ensuring smoother and safer travel for motorists on this important highway.
