Sigachi to Boost MCC Capacity to 30,000 MTPA with Dahej Expansion

Sigachi Industries has begun civil work for the next phase of its capacity expansion at the Dahej SEZ facility in Gujarat, marking a key step in its growth strategy.

The expansion involves the establishment of a state-of-the-art 12,000 MTPA (metric tonnes per annum) microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) plant. This project aligns with Sigachi’s long-term vision to strengthen operational resilience, prioritise safety in design, and reinforce its position as a global leader in pharmaceutical excipients. The new facility is expected to be fully operational within the next nine months.

Once complete, Sigachi’s total MCC production capacity will increase to 30,000 MTPA, including output from its existing units at Dahej SEZ and Jhagadia. The added capacity will enable the company to maintain uninterrupted customer service, enhance delivery timelines, and bolster supply chain reliability—especially critical in the pharmaceutical sector.

As part of the project, a new Spray Dryer system is being procured in collaboration with leading equipment manufacturers and safety consultants to ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

With a presence in over 65 countries, Sigachi Industries produces a broad portfolio of pharmaceutical products, including Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), Intermediates, Excipients, and vitamin-mineral blends.
