SRM-AP: The Heart of Andhra’s Green Hydrogen Valley

SRM University–AP has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the JK Srivastava Group to establish a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence (CoE) for green hydrogen technologies in Andhra Pradesh.

The proposed centre will focus on advanced research, academic collaboration, and scientific knowledge exchange to support the state’s ambition of producing 1.5 million tonnes per annum of green hydrogen by 2030. The initiative aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s Green Hydrogen Valley project, under which SRM University–AP has been designated as the state nodal agency for advanced hydrogen research.

The Centre of Excellence will undertake research on efficient electrolysis catalysts, explore alternative water sources such as seawater electrolysis, develop advanced hydrogen storage solutions, and study hydrogen applications in sectors including transport and data centres. Highlighting the initiative, D. Narayana Rao, Executive Director (Research) at SRM Group of Institutions, said the university is leading the initial phase of green hydrogen development through the establishment of the Centre of Excellence for Hydrogen Technologies.

The collaboration is further strengthened by JK Srivastava Group’s commitment to invest ₹35,000 crore in a green ammonia project in the state.
