Bridging the Gap: A New Era of Road-Rail Synergy Begins

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Konkan Railway Corporation (KRCL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote integrated infrastructure development and explore opportunities for resource optimisation.

The MoU was signed at NHAI Headquarters in New Delhi, in the presence of NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav and senior officials from both organisations. The partnership aims to leverage the complementary strengths of NHAI and KRCL to boost India’s infrastructure growth and enhance connectivity.

Key areas of collaboration include planning integrated road and rail projects, such as rail-cum-road bridges, tunnels, multi-modal logistics parks, inter-modal hubs, and common utility corridors, with a focus on improving coordination in complex terrains. KRCL’s expertise in challenging landscapes—including bridge and tunnel design, slope stabilisation, and safety audits—will support NHAI in enhancing efficiency and safety across projects.

Santosh Kumar Yadav highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration in strengthening India’s infrastructure network.
