DDA to Tender Houseboat Convention Centre on Yamuna

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is preparing to invite tenders for a distinctive four-storey houseboat-style convention centre to be developed at Baansera on the Yamuna floodplain.

Conceived as a multi-purpose venue for meetings, conferences, and dining events, the project aligns with Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena’s vision of transforming the Yamuna floodplain into an accessible and vibrant public space. To preserve the ecological character of the riverfront, the convention centre will be constructed entirely from wood, with no use of concrete or steel.

The structure will feature a meeting hall, dining space with an attached pantry, a reception lounge, and other essential support facilities. Deodar wood will be used for the base, cedar for the superstructure, and walnut for ornamental carvings, while chinar wood will be incorporated into interior finishes.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 180 days from the award of the contract, with completion targeted for May–June 2026.
