A 20,000 sq. ft. Skill Development Centre is planned at Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) through a partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for this collaboration is slated to be signed next week, according to the Commerce Ministry. During his visit to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), assessed the progress of industrial infrastructure and startup initiatives in the area. He emphasized the need to attract global capability centre (GCC) investments and establish Research & Development (R&D) hubs at AURIC to bolster the regional innovation ecosystem.
Stakeholders recommended aligning PMAY 2.0 subsidies with state housing policies to encourage inclusive residential development within the industrial township. Other proposals included enhancing logistics in Bidkin, improving connectivity on the Aurangabad-Hyderabad-Chennai corridor, setting up a Vande Bharat terminal, establishing an MRO facility, launching local train services between Jalna and Waluj, promoting affordable housing through MHADA, and developing a dedicated chemical zone. Additionally, they suggested increasing MSME land reservation from 10% to 40%, allocating 10% of land for startups, and expanding skill development infrastructure at AURIC.
