Kargwal Constructions planning to set up Marina Development Project in Goa

Kargwal Constructions is a proposed Marina development project in Mormugao, North Goa, Goa that has sparked debate from its inception in 2010. The project will entail the development of a 10-hectare marina on land leased from the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT). The marina would be able to house up to 500 yachts and would have a restaurant, a spa, and a yacht club, among other amenities. The AHOY Marina project, which is located in Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) waters, has been met with criticism from local fisherman and environmental groups. 

Proponents of the proposal claim that the marina will enhance tourism and create jobs in Goa. Opponents, on the other hand, claim that the marina will ruin the fishing community's livelihood and harm the ecosystem. The MPT has given its approval in principle to the proposal, but the final decision will be made by the Union Ministry of Shipping. Here are some of the project's important details: The project will be built on a 10-hectare area of land in the MPT. The marina will have a capacity of up to 500 ships. A yacht club, a restaurant, and a shopping mall will also be included in the project. The project is expected to cost approximately 350 crores. The project is estimated to generate approximately 450 employment.

As of September 2023, The project is currently in the stage of being approved currently awaiting approval from the government.
