Lulu Group Drops Rs. 4,000 Crore on India's Biggest Mall

UAE-based retail giant, LuLu Group, has unveiled plans to construct India's largest shopping mall in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, with an estimated investment of Rs 4,000 crore. The announcement was made during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, where a detailed miniature of the proposed mall is showcased at the UAE stall.

Scheduled to commence in 2024, the construction of the mega shopping complex reflects LuLu Group's expansion strategy in the Indian market. In September 2023, the group had already outlined its intention to establish two major shopping malls in Ahmedabad and Chennai, while also exploring opportunities in other states for additional malls and food processing facilities. Furthermore, the opening of a LuLu shopping mall in Hyderabad is anticipated later this month.

LuLu Group currently operates malls in six Indian cities, including Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Coimbatore, and Hyderabad, the latter being the most recent addition. Boasting a vast network of over 250 hypermarkets and supermarkets, LuLu is a favored shopping destination in the GCC, Egypt, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The company, with a diverse workforce of over 65,000 employees representing 42 nationalities, achieves an impressive global annual turnover of USD eight billion.
