India's Steel Crown Jewel: AMNS's Mega Plant in Gujarat

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS) is currently in the process of establishing the largest integrated steel plant at Hazira in Gujarat. Following the agreement signed during the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit with the state government, the company is progressing through the second phase of the project.

The upcoming plant is designed to have an impressive production capacity of 24 million metric tons of crude steel. The completion of the entire project is anticipated by 2029. The initial phase, initiated in 2021, is on track and expected to be inaugurated by 2026.

Additionally, AMNS plans to commence the second phase of the project near Surat, with a targeted completion date of 2029. The ceremonial 'Bhumi Pujan' for the plant was conducted in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Notably, ArcelorMittal is diversifying its investments by venturing into renewable energy and green hydrogen initiatives alongside its steel production endeavors.
