AESL Completes Acquisition of Khavda Phase-IV Transmission Project

Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has successfully acquired the Khavda Phase-IV Part-A transmission project, following a letter of intent (LoI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL). The acquisition of Khavda IVA Power Transmission, an SPV created by RECPDCL, is a critical step in executing this large-scale renewable energy (RE) project.

The Khavda IVA transmission line is a vital component of India’s National Grid, designed to evacuate 7 GW of renewable energy from the Khavda RE Park in Gujarat. This project involves connecting 765 kV double circuit lines from Khavda to Lakadia and Bhuj, as well as establishing a transformation capacity of 4,500 MVA. This infrastructure is essential for supporting India's transition to clean energy, making Khavda a key site in the country's net-zero journey.

AESL secured this project through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process. The company plans to invest ₹4,091 crore in the development of the 298 km transmission line, which will be completed within 24 months. The project will be operated on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis, with AESL maintaining the infrastructure for the next 35 years.

The project includes the installation of advanced electrical components such as 300 MVAr STATCOM and 3x1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Inter-connecting Transformers (ICTs), enhancing grid stability. These efforts are crucial not only for evacuating the 30 GW of green power planned for Khavda but also for ensuring the reliability of India's power grid.

This acquisition underscores AESL's commitment to advancing India's renewable energy infrastructure, further solidifying its role in the nation's ambitious clean energy goals.
