Bengaluru Metro Phase-III Geotechnical Survey to Begin

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) is gearing up for a crucial geotechnical survey for Phase-III of the Bengaluru Metro project, with an investment of ₹5.50 crore. The survey is set to commence shortly and will assess the terrain for the new routes, which are integral to expanding the city's metro network.

Phase-III will feature a comprehensive 32.15 km stretch connecting JP Nagar Fourth Phase to Kempapura along the Outer Ring Road, known as the Orange Line. This phase will also extend from Hosahalli Station to Sunkadakatte Depot over 12.5 km, incorporating nine additional stations.

The survey will be conducted in four phases by different consultancy firms. Hyderabad-based Mangalam Consultancy Services will handle the first phase from JP Nagar Fourth Phase to Mysuru Road Station. Secon will be responsible for the second phase, covering Mysuru Road Station to Kanteerava Studio Station. Myrtle Project Company will oversee the third phase, from Kanteerava Studio to Kempapura Station. The fourth and final phase will be managed by Secon, from Hosahalli Station to Sunkadakatte Depot.

The findings will guide the construction of elevated tracks and stations. BMRCL has instructed the consulting firms to complete and submit their reports within five months. The Orange Line will intersect with the existing Blue Line and Red Line at Hebbal, and will also connect with the suburban rail system, enhancing overall connectivity.
