Hero Motors has joined forces with Germany’s SchmiedeTechnik Plettenberg (STP) to establish a joint venture for manufacturing forged powertrain components in India for global markets.
The new facility will be located at Hero Industrial Park in Ludhiana, Punjab, a hub for key automotive and EV manufacturing units, including HMC HIVE, HYM, and Spur Technologies.
STP Chairman and CEO Cornel Mueller emphasized the strategic benefits of the partnership, stating, “Collaborating with HML strengthens our global presence and enhances cost efficiencies. Beyond manufacturing in India, we aim to drive cross-border knowledge exchange and integrate best practices between Germany and India.”
With six facilities across Germany, STP specializes in high-precision forged and machined components for automotive and industrial applications. Hero Motors, a subsidiary of Hero Motors Company (HMC), operates across automotive components, e-mobility, cycles, real estate, and premium retail. This joint venture aims to enhance cost efficiency, expand market reach, and foster technological collaboration between the two countries.
