Bihar's $17,000 Crore Ganga Road Revolution Begins

The Bihar government is set to initiate three major road infrastructure projects along the Ganga River, with a total estimated investment of Rs 17,000 crore. These projects will be developed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and aim to enhance regional connectivity, boost tourism, and stimulate economic growth.

The key road corridors include:

Digha–Sherpur–Bihta–Koilwar (35.65 km) – Rs 6,495.79 crore

Munger (Safiabad)–Bariyarpur–Ghorghat–Sultanganj (42 km) – Rs 5,119.80 crore

Sultanganj–Bhagalpur–Sabour (41.33 km) – Rs 4,849.83 crore

These scenic riverfront routes will significantly reduce travel time and improve accessibility across major urban and semi-urban centres. The 84-km stretch connecting Munger, Sultanganj, and Bhagalpur is expected to function as a regional ring road, helping decongest city roads and facilitating smoother movement of goods and people.

Tenders have been awarded, and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will lay the foundation stone on October 4, ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
