Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over ₹719 crore in Lunkaransar, Bikaner district, on December 16, 2025.
The announcements form part of the state government’s broader infrastructure and water management push. Highlighting recent initiatives, the Chief Minister noted that projects worth ₹1,717 crore were launched on December 5 to strengthen the Gang Canal system. These include the ₹647 crore reconstruction of the Firozpur Feeder and a ₹3,400 crore project for the renovation of Indira Gandhi Nahar Project (IGNP) canals and the construction of lined canals.
Sharma also stated that work orders worth ₹26,000 crore have been issued for the Ram Jal Setu Link Project aimed at improving water availability in eastern Rajasthan. Additionally, he said the Yamuna water agreement will facilitate water supply to the Shekhawati region.
Further announcements included major irrigation initiatives such as ₹250 crore for the Barsalpur Canal, ₹230 crore for the Dhodha and Dantaur canals, and ₹270 crore for sprinkler irrigation across 44,500 hectares under the Dr Karni Singh Lift Canal project.
These projects are expected to significantly enhance irrigation infrastructure and water security across the region.
