IPA's ₹600 Crore Poultry Push: Wings Spread Across India

Indian Poultry Alliance (IPA), a subsidiary of the Allana Group, is expanding its presence with two new greenfield poultry processing units in Kishanganj, Bihar, and Zaheerabad, Telangana. The company is investing ₹300 crore in each facility as part of its strategic growth plan.

In addition to these new units, IPA is strengthening its foothold in South India through partnerships with existing industry players. The company recently acquired Belagavi-based Kwality Animal Feeds Pvt Ltd and is scaling up its processing capacity.

Moiz Chunawala, Managing Director of IPA, stated that the company aims to reach a processing capacity of 1.5 lakh birds per day by the end of 2025. As part of a broader backward integration strategy, IPA will invest in breeder farms, hatcheries, feed mills, and soya extruding units, while collaborating with regional integrators and breeders.

“There is a growing demand for high-quality poultry processing facilities and hygienically slaughtered chicken. Given our expertise in protein handling, this expansion aligns with our vision to strengthen India’s poultry industry,” Chunawala said.

India’s poultry consumption has been growing at approximately 8% annually for over a decade, a trend IPA expects to continue or even exceed.

To further expand its market reach, IPA plans to launch a retail brand and establish around 4,000 protein stores by 2030, offering fresh chilled processed poultry products. Currently, the company operates 8-10 stores in the Belagavi and Goa regions, following the acquisition of Kwality Feeds. While its primary focus remains on the B2B segment—serving quick-service restaurants (QSRs) and food service companies—IPA is also engaging with online protein retailers and quick commerce platforms.

The new greenfield units will incorporate advanced rendering plants to convert poultry waste into byproducts for IPA’s extruded pet food facility. The company is also adopting new technology to enhance sustainability, including equipment designed to reduce water consumption by 30%.

While IPA's immediate focus is on the domestic market, it is also exploring export opportunities. "India has immense potential in poultry exports, and we will assess value-added products or byproducts that can fetch better prices internationally," Chunawala added.

With these investments, IPA aims to reinforce its position in India's growing poultry sector while upholding world-class hygiene and quality standards.
