J&K Issues Bid for 70 MW Rooftop Solar Project on Govt Buildings

The Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) has announced a call for bids to install and commission 70 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems across various government buildings. The initiative is a part of the region's broader strategy to enhance its solar energy capacity and sustainability efforts.

The project will include a comprehensive five-year maintenance plan, ensuring the longevity and efficiency of the solar installations. Interested bidders are required to submit their proposals by June 24, 2024. This deadline is critical for those looking to participate in this significant renewable energy endeavor.

To qualify, bidders must demonstrate prior experience with solar photovoltaic (PV) projects and meet specific financial turnover criteria. These prerequisites ensure that only capable and financially stable companies will be entrusted with this large-scale project, thereby mitigating risks and ensuring quality execution.

Additionally, bidders are required to provide a financial deposit and purchase the bid document to formalize their interest and commitment. These steps are designed to streamline the bidding process and confirm the seriousness of the potential contractors.

JAKEDA's rooftop solar project has the potential to increase the region's solar capacity by up to 25%, depending on demand and available funding. This initiative underscores the agency's commitment to sustainable development and renewable energy adoption in Jammu and Kashmir.
