Haryana’s Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Shyam Singh Rana, has announced plans to establish a modern kinnow juice processing plant in Sirsa district to strengthen the state’s horticulture sector.
The project will be developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model through a collaboration between Haryana Agro Industries Corporation and the Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation (Vita). The proposed plant will have an annual processing capacity of 22,000 tonnes and will handle kinnow along with other fruits such as guava and pomegranate.
The processed products will be marketed under the Vita brand and made available through Harhith and Vita retail outlets, helping ensure better price realisation for farmers. The initiative is aimed at reducing post-harvest fruit wastage while creating additional value for horticultural produce, particularly benefiting kinnow growers in the region.
Emphasising the project’s impact, Minister Rana said the facility would strengthen the local horticultural economy, create improved market opportunities for farmers, and significantly reduce fruit wastage.
