RSPL Group’s SOKA has achieved a major milestone in its soda ash manufacturing operations after receiving environmental clearance to double its production capacity.
The Gujarat-based facility, currently among India’s leading soda ash producers, will expand its capacity from 500,000 tonnes to one million tonnes per annum. The expansion also includes plans to manufacture sodium bicarbonate (SBC), further strengthening SOKA’s product portfolio. In the near term, the company is implementing a phased plan to raise capacity to 750,000 tonnes per annum over the next two years, followed by an additional 250,000 tonnes at its state-of-the-art chemical complex.
The capacity expansion is expected to create around 2,000 employment opportunities in Gujarat’s coastal region, providing a significant boost to the local economy. Increased output will also reinforce SOKA’s position in the solar glass segment, where soda ash is a critical raw material.
SOKA established its soda ash manufacturing plant in Dwarka district in 2019 and currently exports its products to nearly 50 countries, including markets in Central America, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region. Commenting on the development, Tinku Chhabra, CEO of SOKA, said, “The environmental clearance to expand our soda ash manufacturing capacity is a significant step in advancing the ‘Make in India’ vision. Our plant plays a vital role in strengthening the domestic industrial ecosystem by supplying essential raw materials to sectors such as detergents, glass, solar glass, textiles, and chemicals.”
