The Jammu and Kashmir Horticulture Produce Marketing Corporation (JKHPMC) has entered into a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Sarveshwar Foods to develop Basmati rice clusters across the districts of Jammu, Samba, and Kathua.
The initiative will be implemented through Himalayan Ancient Foods, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sarveshwar Foods established specifically for this project to ensure efficient governance, execution, and monitoring. The MoA was signed by Mohammad Farooq Dar, Managing Director of JKHPMC, and Dr. Gayatri Tandon, Project Head at Sarveshwar Foods. Speaking at the event, Mohammad Farooq Dar, also Mission Director of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), highlighted the significance of cluster-based agricultural development and the adoption of technology-driven practices to achieve sustainable agricultural growth.
The project is expected to benefit around 7,500 farmers and cover nearly 12,000 hectares of agricultural land. It aims to enhance productivity, improve crop quality, strengthen market linkages, and increase farmers’ incomes by promoting modern farming techniques and ensuring better price realisation for Basmati rice growers.
