ITC Chairman Sanjiv Puri has announced plans to expand the company’s hospitality footprint in West Bengal with the addition of three new hotels in Darjeeling, Kurseong, and the Sundarbans, along with five other properties already in the development pipeline.
Speaking at the Business & Industry Conclave 2025, Puri said the expansion is aimed at leveraging the state’s growing tourism potential. He commended the West Bengal government for positioning the state as an increasingly attractive destination for international tourists. ITC currently operates seven hotels in West Bengal, including two luxury properties in Kolkata—ITC Sonar and ITC Royal Bengal.
The company’s expansion plans also include a super-luxury hotel in Siliguri and five additional hotels to be developed through partnerships. Beyond hospitality, ITC has a long-standing presence in Kolkata with 20 manufacturing facilities and is expanding its food processing operations, with the Panchala plant set to increase capacity from three to eight production lines. The company is also advancing AI-led innovation through a partnership with Google.
